Archbishop Fred Hiltz, Primate of the Anglican Church of Canada, has issued a statement inviting all members of the Anglican Church of Canada to join with him on September 1st to “pray in an especially intentional way for the integrity of God’s creation, and for the will and the means to confront and resolve the ecological crisis our planet is facing.”
Earlier in August, Pope Francis called on members of the Catholic Church to recognize annually September 1st to be a World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation. This would coincide with the day that many Eastern Orthodox Christians have been setting aside as a Day of Prayer for the Environment since 1989.
