Prayers for those impacted by wildfires
A Call for Prayer from Archbishop Mark MacDonald
~ posted to The Anglican Church of Canada’s Facebook page on August 16, 2021
Archbishop Mark MacDonald, National Indigenous Archbishop asks for prayers for all those Western communities impacted by fires and evacuations.
Almighty and everlasting God, the comfort of the sad and the strength of those who suffer, hear the prayers of your people who are anxious, facing harm, and/or working to rebuild through trauma. Grant to everyone in distress mercy, safety, relief, and refreshment; through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Please, join me in prayer for the many communities that are now threatened by fire. Many communities in Manitoba, Ontario, and Saskatchewan have been threatened and many evacuated, though some have been able to return home. We are especially concerned by the communities in BC, including Lytton, that was destroyed by fire earlier this summer. In BC, these reserves have been ordered to evacuate:
LYTTON
SKUPPAH
SISKA
KANAKA
SHACKAN
NOOITCH
LOGAN LAKE
HVC
Many communities are struggling with multiple issues and Elders, Lay Readers, and Clergy are facing many challenges. Pray for everyone in every community, but do not forget those who are offering ministry and prayer.
