Anglican Response to Lytton Fire
Communication from the Territory of the People
and the Primate of the Anglican Church of Canada
There is shock and much concern as a result of the wildfire that devastated Lytton. People from the village of Lytton, Lytton First Nation, and surrounding areas have all been impacted. Lytton Anglican Parishes are part of the Territory of the People. This page on the Territory’s website gives some sense of these congregations.
The Territory Interim Steering Committee sent a letter to the members of the Lytton Anglican Parishes and the Territory on July 1st to provide initial information of the situation, offer prayers, and indicate that as more is learned that practical assistance will be organized to meet needs.
The Territory Interim Steering Committee sent out a second letter on July 2nd providing an update. In it, they share information about the prayers and financial support that have been received from the wider Anglican church. It also gives information about how individuals and congregations can make donations. The letter is reproduced below.
With that letter, they shared a letter that the Territory had received from the Most Rev. Linda Nicholls, Archbishop and Primate of the Anglican Church of Canada. This pastoral letter appears below.
